For nearly one third of his life, Elmer has been teaching Spanish in the leading Language schools around Lake Atitlan. He studied Architecture at the University Mariano Galvez de Quetzaltengo, and Mathematics at the University of San Carlos de Guatemala.
Multiple generations of Elmer's family have lived in San Pedro - holding various positions in city government, education and tourism. His knowledge base is diverse and provides an excellent foundation for providing students with many cultural and academic opportunities. His passions are in learning and sharing his love of Mayan Tz'utujil history, culture, natural history, mayan celebrations & ceremonies, as well as sports music and art.
Elmer is well-connected within the community of San Pedro and can assist students in finding hotels, homestays, shuttle services, as well as help fulfil all of your recreational needs. (Hiking, kayaking, horse back riding, volunteering, etc.)
However long your stay in Atitlan, Elmer will support you in finding a rich and rewarding experience.
